This is when we get to meet with local Councillors (these are the people that get voted in locally), Council Officers (people that work at the Council) face to face and ask them questions and find out what plans they are making.
We meet them in the Town Hall every two months. You can download the latest minutes of the last meeting HERE
MINUTES OF YOUTH FORUM MEETING
If you have any questions that you would like to ask the Councillors then please contact us at hypc-info@hastings.gov.uk.
We also want to be able to use this space for you to be able to read about local councillors - what do they do and why?
Below is a short message from each of the local borough councillors that meet with members from the youth council every two months!
| Councillor PAUL SILVERSON says..."Having been a Hastings Borough Councillor for 8 years my work is still not complete. Hastings is my home and the town has so much potential. The council has so many challenges in tackling social deprivation and improving the quality of life for the residents. To achieve this we must also engage with young people and the Youth Forum is an ideal opportunity for the voice of the Hastings Young Persons Council to be heard." | ![]() |
| Councillor VIVIENNE BOND says...."I think the youth forum has an important role to play in informing the council of the needs and issues of the young people of today, who are after all, our future. We must listen to these future votes and residents of our historic town, which is so rich in heritage. Often the wishes and aspirations of young people are similar to the council's - that is more safe places to meet, better transport etc." | ![]() |
| Councillor STEPHEN SPRINGTHORPE says...."I became a councillor because I wanted to help improve Hastings and have an input in the future direction of the town. In many ways the future of Hastings depends upon the young people living here now. We need to share our vision with them and it is therefore essential tht we continue to hear their ideas which help to shape our own thinking. The thoughts of our young people are generally very well expressed through their representatives on the Hastings Young Persons Council." | ![]() |
